High school students are participating in the @Open Eyes Economy Summit in Krakow.
Adult students of the #Diploma Programme are volunteers and are learning through action how to be part of such a large event.
👌Social Economy is a socio-economic event where, as the organizers write, “we analyze reality and create ideas for tomorrow.”
Panel discussions, lectures, and demonstrations cover various areas of our social life, including education.
One of the panels our students attended was “Education as an Investment in the Future: Knowledge, Competencies, and Subjectivity,” prepared by Oktawia Gorzeńska, Vice-President for Education of the City of Gdynia, together with Dr. Maciej Jakubowski, Director of the Educational Research Institute (IBE), Dr. Barbara Worek from the @Jagiellonian University, and Juergen Siebel from CEDEFOP.
“The speakers discussed how, in times of dynamic social, economic, and technological change, education is not only the #key to #individual #success, but also an important area, the foundation for building sustainable and #resilient #societies.”
As Oktawia Gorzeńska put it: “Today’s meeting is an opportunity to look at education not only as a #process of acquiring knowledge, but also as a #space for developing competencies and strengthening #subjectivity.
Our discussions revolved around the following questions:
❓How can we ensure that education prepares people for life in an increasingly complex world?
❓How can we create educational policies that support both the development of individuals and society as a whole?
❓How can we incorporate diverse perspectives and voices of stakeholders – from students to employers – into the process of planning the future of education?”
We would like to thank the organizers for the opportunity to participate in the @OpenEyes Economy Summit and the variety of topics covered.
